Office accessories may seem
insignificant and a waste of money but they can make a huge impact not only on
how your space looks, but also on how well you work. Most of us dream for an
organized desk; here are some ideas on how to use office accessories to help
you achieve that dream.
First and foremost get your computer layout right.
Your monitor should be
in front of you at eye-level and about 20-inches from your body. While a monitor itself isn't easily adjustable, their are many solutions for this. Check out Ergotech's monitor arm solutions to help you achieve this ergonomic position.
After you have that focal point of your desk set, you can
start with the accessories.
Paper Sorters and Organizers
Does your desk fall victim to paper
clutter without you realizing it? Paper sorters and organizers are extremely
helpful and come in so many different shapes and colors you’ll have no problem
finding one that matches the aesthetics of your desk. You can go a step further
and add a couple and designate it for a different set of papers.
Desk Pads
A desk pad can not only help protect
the surface of your desk but it can also serve as a place to write your tasks
on.
Lamps
If you have a personal office, you
have more of a choice of how to light your desk. Having a well-lit desk helps
you to avoid eye strain. An adjustable task light is perfect. It will be hard to keep your desk organized if you can’t see the mess!
Pencil/Pen Holders
This
one is simple. A cup, a mason jar, pretty much anything that can keep your
writing implements from being scattered around your desk.
Wire Organizer
Organize electrical cords with zip ties or cord clips, this will help keep them out of the way. You can also get wire tubing if you want the cords hidden as well.
Have a trash can within reach
Keep a trash within reach so you can easily
toss trash away instead of letting it pile up on your desk and forgotten about.
A good practice is to schedule
regular cleaning time. Take 5 minutes at the end of your day to clean it before you leave it.
